As an art student at the University of Wisconsin, I dreamed of painting like Renoir. That didn’t work out, so instead I snuck into his painting. After college, I worked for Wisconsin public libraries, learning much about research and organization. One day, I got the advertising bug, pursued my first job in Minneapolis (at the time, an ad Mecca), and learned how the combination of strategy and imagination can help any business flourish in the marketplace. I’ve won plenty of awards for my work, but they don’t mean as much as some think. My wife, Yoshiko, and I moved to New Orleans late in the last century, and are proud to call it home.
